0:04 And I love him and squeeze him and call him George. King Ways Fox Beer look is acting very weird. Captain Pike's this goes wife King on Sanni after. Like Boimer Tende Starbaransom is very hard. Sports drive black alert. Georgio has gone perserved, pezzare a bad laugh. Edward is any back? Said Wolf is were Checkov's wearing red tee. This cat jimpacks that you has had enough for that pennie of make it. So everybody, let's. Go about the series.
0:46 You usus now talk about the series. We're coming to your services. Now we talk about the series. Well, good evening, Trekkies and Trekkers around the globe. It it's Thursday, April seventeenth, twenty twenty five. Welcome to episode six hundred and thirty two of trek And I'm your most excellent host, Uncle Jimmy. With me here on my shoulder is my pet glomer His name is George. I'm gonna love him and squeeze him and give him all the love in the world. He protects me from all those killer tribles like the one that's on David's head right now. So he's my little he's my Guardian. You guys may even remember him from The Star Trek, the animated series episode More Troubles, More Tribles. So, without any further ado, I'd like to introduce my awesome Trek Sports and we'll start off with Eric. Eric's out in Portland.
1:54 How you doing tonight, Eric, I'm doing good. I'm kind of waiting for the like Trible Glommer show down at some point. We've now introduced George and so at some point George has to eat the triple right, That's just how it goes. He's gonna have to jump through the screen and grab them. Yeah. Well, I'll tell you what, I am doing pretty good this week because our one of our local newspapers, to Portland Mercury, sponsors one week every year a Pizza Week, and so this week in Portland you can go to various pizza establishments and get specially crafted four dollars slices, twenty five dollars pies. We're talking like high quality pizzas all the way up until the twentieth of this week.
2:37 So so I'm planning on getting myself some ranch pizza at Barely Brewery tonight. That's my big plan. Pizza it's good people. We also have Paul out in Portland as well. How you doing tonight, Paul, Hey, I'm good Man, doing all right? Okay. And we also have out in Portland, David. How you doing tonight, David, Welcome to the show. Okay, I'm doing pretty good. I think my triple is giving me a good idea, though. I'll have to send George over to take care of that man. At last, but not least, we have Charles Charles is out in Las Vegas. How you doing tonight? Charles Charles is muted, That's how he's doing.
3:24 I'm doing okay. There we go other other than I think Mother Nature has been drinking again again. We were there nineties last week. We're down to maybe seventy today. Seventy. Well, you know, Charles, if you were more of a conspiracy theorist guy, you would probably say it's because that Goodyear blimp constantly flies over Vegas these days. I don't know what's going on there. I haven't I have not seen it for few years, and they're not seeing it. Twice in the past two days, so I don't know.
4:05 Conspiracy, Yeah, it's. It's it's it's it's adding those contrails up there. Mhm. Is it really traveling fast enough to add contrails? That's amazing. I don't know, but it's been with pretty good speed across town. So yeah, j just frozen in a permanent smile. I love it. It's like I think. That it isn't it's a vampiric glommer. Yeah, his uh is totally frozen, isn't it? It is. It's pretty funny actually, I mean, at least it's in the absolute best of possible face.
4:49 I know how we can. I know how we can unfreeze it, though. Oh yeah, that's one. Way to do. I gonna say, if we if we just start denigrating Star Trek five, I think he'll, oh yeah, happen find a way. Well, ironically regrettable choice it was, but it was. Frozen to you. It was reconnecting to me. Okay, Oh, could he just jump back into where he's a host. I believe that he can. He's probably gonna message us here in a minute. But uh, but yeah, I'm gonna say that that's a good chance that he had some kind of internet issue or something.
5:32 Well, I just jumped on my corn and just connected me. I'd like that right, Yeah, exactly, Well, I guess we could just press on without him and we could say all the things that he would normally say. So Jim would normally say at this point, Well, what he would love to do is remind all of our listeners about our Patreon page. That's right, we have a Patreon page, and starting at just two dollars per month, you can become a member, a patron, he always says, become a Patreon. This is my this is my opportunity to correct what Jim normally says. So on patreon A you're you going to be busy, you become a patron and for just two dollars a month, that's all it takes. You can join up. Now, you might say to yourself, two dollars a month, that's very valuable to me. What might you get for two dollars a month? And what you get for that amazing price is that you get the video feed that many of you are not seeing right now much more quickly. And if you're one of those people who's like, I need it, I need right now, this is the perfect opportunity for you because two bucks a month is I believe only about thirty five percent of a cup of coffee right now?
6:34 And I mean, are you factoring in for tariffs right now? I'm sorry, only only fifteen percent of a cup of coffee. Okay. I have been really curious do we know do we are we able to include in our marketing how many patrons we have at the stage? Do we know how many we have? I've been very curious about that factor. Is it more than two? No? To help people that come on. Transparency, we want more patrion. So we have a couple where you could be. So this is our chance, folks to join a very exclusive club. Okay, only a handful.
7:15 The elite membership of one person would literally add thirty three percent more. Okay, alright, currentless. One of the patrons Jim just the way he. And the other way actual podcast way he goes. He puts up a poster his teck talking and then he comes to the post is gym and likes it to increase the light counts. It's like that. It might be like that, but you know, actually he can't post on I get I get to be I have to be the one posting. Oh so you're saying it's a Charles in charge kind of situation. Yes, it is actually Jim. Literally, Jim's got one of the freebie accounts.
7:58 Oh yeah, I mean he doesn't even need to pay, right, all right, Well, so you could become a member of a very exclusive club for only two bucks a month, and you should do it because it would boost our egos by at least thirty three percent. So just just give it a go, you know, why not two bucks a month. But if you don't feel like doing that, which you should, the next best thing that you can possibly do is go to www. Dot trek Talking dot com and you can check out many of our previous podcasts. We have what did Jim say, six hundred and twenty something podcasts? That is not how many are on the page. We were. There's been like so many iterations of this podcast. We have four hundred and something on that page right now. And let me tell you, like episode sex to.
8:39 Thirty two, so I think we've got four hundred and twenty something on this that's like two thirds of our podcasts are available on that web page. And I will tell you there are some real doozies in there, man. There are some times that we talked about the Gorn. There are some times. We talked to some Klingons. We talked to Chase Masterson once and she was totally awesome. I mean, we talked to Tim Russ. There's all these people that we've talked to in the past. I know that you would love to know all of the things that they had to say and all of the great questions that they. Ask or that we can Director Nicholas Meyer. Nicholas, I mean, come on, Nicholas Meyer was like he was only a few weeks ago, and that was that was something that we were all very excited about. And then welcome back, Jim, seems you brought an echo with you.
9:20 Cock Ca Well, Jim, we've already gone through that people should become patrons, and we've already gone through the website address right now, and I was just about ready to start talking about what we were going to do on tonight's show. So if you cared to unmute yourself and tell us, oh you could, that now would be an opportunity. And we'll give you five seconds to comply. Well, I'm trying to figure out how to get this echo to go away. Well, don't worry about the echo right now. Just tell us what we're going to talk about tonight, except now you're muted, so you can't possibly talk. No, I could talk, I can absolutely talk. I I can barely hear him.
10:02 Can you hear him? You can't hear me? Yeah? Your viome's way low, brother, very low. Wow, that's not good. Very low. Oh, that's a little bit of volume control up on, but glomer closer to your mouth. Yeah, what's what's the deal with this here? Yeah, you sound like you're you sound like you're under J. D Vance's couch. That's good stuff. Well, I'm I'm on maximum volume right now. I can't turn it up any louder that, but. We can hear you a little bit better. Now, that's good. Wow. Tell us what it's like under jd Vance's couch. Well, you find any gun? I don't want to tell you what I found here.
10:45 You're better off not knowing. Some of Mydrie Taylor Green's hair may. Geez could be. I don't know whose hair it is. Well, considering a bald on your shoulders, it's my triple. It's not a triple George, George. You gotta tell you, George. You gotta respect George. It's George. Well, let's start we're gonna be talking about Star Child, the Star Trek fan film from Tales from the Neutral Zone by our good friend Ray Tessi, who's been on the podcast many many times. We're gonna watch it and talk about it a little bit later. We're also gonna have our fans shout outs where we thank our fans just like you for listening to the show and being fay Full followers. We also have some poll questions tonight when poll when cultures collad warf has to make some hard, hard choices, and we kind of touched on this last week and now we're gonna swing back around and discuss it this week. We also have a Star Trek Birthday, so you can find out what Star Trek actor you share a birthday with. And also in our Star Trek universe, Shatner says, we have a new Enterprise toy which which Paul is going to tell us about a new Star Trek. Strange New World's novel by James Swallow is on the way, and what does Buffy the Vampire Slayer have to do with Star Fleet Academy And you can know it over a Facebook page and
12:16 you'll see a live long and prosper tint to the top of the page, click on that and tell us where you're listening from, and then listen to the next show to hear your name mentioned in a fan shout out. Without any further ado, Eric get us started with our fan shoutouts. You got it, Jim, our very first fan shout out jumps just across the pond to Manchester, Lancashire in the UK. This person has sent us one, two, five separate emojis. It looks like a person lifting weights. It looks like a strong arm, some praying hands, perhaps a fox and a bee. If I had more time, I would decipher that into some kind of sentence, which I'm sure there's some sort of cryptology involved there. But we're saying hello this week to our good friend David Wolson Croft, who is saying hello to us from one of our biggest supporters over there in the UK. Thank you, David so much for saying hello to us this week. We hope you are listening right now and hearing your name, and we hope that you will tell us what all of these emojis mean, because they're amazing. We're also saying hello this week to jan Lee Greville, who is saying hello to us from Queensland in Australia. That's right down Unda.
13:29 We have some support, and that is I've discovered, not entirely on the other side of the planet, but is very very far away, Let's be clear. So jan Leegue Greville, thank you so much for saying hello to us, and we say live long and prosper to you. Also saying hello this week to Yalma Christo who's saying hello to us from Bao Horizonte in Brazil. We have lots and lots of support in Southern America as well, South America, not Southern America. Let me be clear, South America. Alma is one of those great people who is supporting us down there in that amazing country of Brazil, which I hope to visit someday. You probably don't want to visit here right now, but maybe I can come to your country and we can say hello to one another. So thank you Yama for saying hello. And last, but not least, on my list, I would like to say hello this week to Steve Crowell, who is saying hello to us from Ontario, Canada. Hey, Hey, a right back to you, brother.
14:27 I speak Canadian. Trust me, I know what it's all about. Excuse me a boot. Thank you, Steve, Charles, who would you like to say hello to this week? Oh? Thank you, Eric. Let's start off with a warm welcome to Ronnie Riggs, who claimed to be right here in Las Vegas. Did a quick look on the Facebook link and he doesn't have any friends that are tricky's in town, so he needs to find more trickies in town. Welcome to top fan Mary Stephen from Hotsville, Pennsylvania. Hope the weather's starting to warm up over there. A warm welcome to John Honey Holcombe from Pennsylvania between Philly and Allen'stown.
15:16 I wonder if Marano's John. And welcome to Elmer Klott from Wisconsin, probably sitting back and joining some cheese right now. David, Wisconsin. I'm sorry I have to say that every time I hear Wisconsin. I just want to say that it's I can't help myself. And who's on your list? Who's not from Wisconsin? David? Oh? Yeah, thank you, Charles. I would like you say welcome and one thank you to Mary el Slow. Sorry w w okay Slow.
15:57 I'm gonna say it's July that's it. Sliwa is like. A slee Wa kind of thing from Florida. All right. Next time my list is a pop fan to marry Valco Diggin from Illinois. Next is Dave. Mundine from Pittsford, Pennsylvania, and last my list to all the warm welcomes to all the ones that I've just announced, as well as Stephen Sen from Brandonton, Florida, just outside of show Toda. So that's interesting. So Paul, who's on your list?
16:38 Thank you, David. I appreciate that. Well. You know, it is a big planet and there are Star Trek fans everywhere and in all the different parts, all the quadrants, all the countries, all the continents, if you will. And we have a lot of folks in England that are big Star Trek fans. I feel particular kinship to England this week. I'll have to mention more about that later. But first of all, let's say hello to our good pal Christopher Douglas of Warrington, originally born in Manchester, then lived in Stockport in England, which is of course the United Kingdom, but is now living in the Sierra Sur Deene region of Andalusia in Spain and Christopher's got just pretty much every flag flying you could have, right, He's got the English flag, the UK flag, the Union Jack, the Spanish flag, He's got them all. And he's a man of much European frivolity there. But he's also a star Trek fan and that's what makes us happiest to mall to know that you're out there representing Christopher Douglas Warrington.
17:39 So thanks for being a fan and reaching out down the road from him. In London, we have Robert William Graham, also a big star Trek fan and big fan of the podcast, So good dear from you, Robert. Live along and prosper leaping continents to South Africa where all kinds of interesting things go on. We're saying hello to our friend Cobus van der Vest and I hope I'm pronouncing that right. Cobis Cobus founder West Heightsen is in South Africa, so great to hear from you. Very very interesting climate in South Africa, so you can handle just about anything if you're able to cope down there. And finally to spin continents all over the place again, we're going to go back to Europe. We're gonna go to lovely Austria, magnificent part of the world to Gratz a city in Syria, to be clear. So that's what we got, and our friend in Austria has got the very interesting moniker of Till Reloaded. So I'm not sure if that was was that a delivery room name or was that a name adopted later in life. I'm not really sure Till reloaded.
18:44 It's like I was once Till, but now I'm Till reloaded. Still reloaded. Okay, So kind of like when they talk about a movie franchise reimagining itself, right, I guess that could be what happened, so. For the Matrix reloaded for example. Exactly, So I think Till is out there sans apostrophe, just making it happen however they care to do. So good for you, Till defining your own reality. I can get behind that. So hello, non United States Star Trek fans, wherever you may be, I am proud to count myself as one of you. So I have a fantastic weekend coming up if we can just get through the next couple of days. Let's pass that over to King of the East Coast with his mighty Echo Chambo.
19:31 Looking screen right there. It would be Uncle Jim, take it job. JA like to say thank you to Brian T. Coughlin who's listening to us in Rochester, New York right now, Thank you so much, Kalem Thompson who's listening to us in Orlando, Florida, Gerald w Olt Junior who's listening to us in Denver, Colorado, And last but not least, Brian Gregory in Springfield, virgin That wraps off our star face and shout outs. And now it's time for our star track.
20:12 Poland, Poland, Poland. You know we like no win. What you thought about the show. Then we try to share your opinions with all of our minions out there because they listen worldwide. So tell us just what you think. Get together we will alter Canara and romulan Ale. All right, Roller David.
20:52 Us, what is that the way? Here? He has claimed the right of vengeance. You have no rights here, traitor, Kaylar. Was my bit. I'm the only one war. If you only wanted to improve your essence, kill me. You're your trade forever. The nut horse shall be.
22:26 All right. So that should be a little hint at to what our first poll question is. Take it away, Eric, anybody else's heart just thumping right now? Man? That was intense, all right. Well, as you know, that was a awesome scene from the TNG episode Reunion, and in this episode, as we just saw, Warf ignores his Starfleet oath. I'm not sure where that what that oath is, but I'm sure it's to not kill people whenever possible. And Gill's following his Klingon heritage. Does he make the correct choice? And of course there's only one answer for this, which ninety six percent of our responders agreed to. They said, yes, he absolutely made the right decision. Four percent said no.
23:13 You know, maybe that four percent just didn't like Kaylar. Not really sure, but in this case, for me, Wharf absolutely makes I mean, come on, we've talked a lot on this podcast about how Wharf straddles the world between Klingons and humans. In this episode, clearly he has to respond to some of the shit that Duras has been pulling, and he's been pulling it for a little while, and really the only way to deal with this guy is to take him out in the Klingon way. What I had forgotten about this one was that Duras apparently fights with a katana or something. I was that even. A Klingon weapon.
23:53 I don't even know. To me, he has no honor for simply not fighting with a klingon weapon. So yeah, he deserved to die. Take him down. Worth made the right. Decision, right, you agree with them? I told one hundred the ninety six percent of the minions said, so I one hundred and four percent agree with them. All right, how about you, Paul? Are you with the minions or not? Well? I think clearly when you watch that clip right, Wharf has the superior moves. Absolutely. I love that bit where he like pulls the battlet and kind of tucks into his arm and then it's just like, you know, faces the hand to face. It's like, that's great. I like that a lot.
24:37 Yeah. According to the Internet, Doros just uses a sword conventional clingon sword nerk s. It's not even like a regular kling On sword. Is the ballots, right, and then there's the little one which is the mecklith. But that was clearly like. A sitting Yeah, poorly prepared as usual, right, I don't, Yeah, I was. I also tripped on this starfleet oath. I don't really think that that's what was going on. I don't remember any oath about refusing to kill bastards. I don't think that's a Jordan the academy they. Killing old woman, but somebody. I do not think that's that's anywhere in there. So that's us and again his clingon heritage way it is. Second, there's a lot more going on than that, right, I mean, you know, bottom line, Duras killed his woman. You deserved a freaking die. You know that happens. It's just, you know, sorry, mafia rules on all stuff, right. The only mistake Wharf made is he didn't resurrect Drass so he could kill him again and again and then you know, Warf should have like unzipped and like pissed all over his corpse. Frankly, I mean, you know, set him on fire and then pissed all over that. You know, It's just seriously, you know, Desert Duress is like one of the worst people in all of Star Trek. He deserved to die ten times over.
25:56 I'm done now. Wharf didn't kill his son when he had it chance later too, so he could have done that. How about you, Charles, Are you with the minions or against him? Oh? Definitely with the Minions on this one. Huh you sacrifice family, Okay, then you deserve to die from the loss of family. And yes, yes, previously Wharf's had a katy where for Cards been there to bring him down? Well, for Card wasn't there, and Rocker was too late.
26:38 Well and that was that was a teenager too, right, That was like a different scenario, like Dras was clearly in charge, knowing what he was doing, an adult making adult decisions, whereas you know, Son of charl was a little bit different. All right, all right, so how about you, David Minions or no Minions. Totally with Dominions on this. I'm I'm glad that they got uh, you know, the what do they call that, like a vengeance or something? So uh And I do agree with Paul they they didn't put a good intense battle scene there. But also I think I think what that question was all about the Starfleet oathways, the whole idea of not disobeying your captain, because I believe further behind that scene where there was a talk between the Wharf and the captain going uh back and forth about like you know, the Klingon do this to your family and all this stuff. But I guess I could have probably recorded that part in there, just to make it more of a thing. But uh yeah, I think I agree with the minions. They I think he did a pretty good job.
27:58 All right. And I'm the minions too off with his head and he was on honorable, no honor, and he deserved to die, all right, David. And according and according to him memory Alpha, there is a basic sword and fact Wharf has a pair of them on his wall in this episode. Oh there is a non Kalos sword. Interesting, yes, and you know Picard does. There's that little scene at the end, right, this little kapper right where he says, I'm going to put a formal reprimand on your record, right. Yeah, sorry, I feel terrible. Right, I'll use that as a coaster for my beer when I'm toasting Kalis's death.
28:43 Yeah, I know, somebody goes to higher a Wharf and they're like, I don't know, you have a formal reprimand. On your Oh yeah, doing really? Yeah? Yeah, the one I wipe my butt with? Is that the one? Yeah? Okay, all right, well David, roll the tape for the next one. My parents, my human parents who meet us at STARB seventy three. They will care for you.
29:25 Why can't I stay with you. A family? They can provide that. I cannot, right, mister too, are you my father? Yesh, I'm your father?
30:22 Now there's a spoiler alert, all right, Eric as if people don't know our question. Yeah, I mean this, of course, was from the TNG episode Reunion. And in this episode, Warf finds out that Alexander is his son, and after Kilar is killed, he sends his son to live with his human parents. Do you agree with his decision? And this is one of those times when the minions I'm just frankly completely surprised by their response. Seventy four percent of our responders to this poll said that Warf made the right decision, and twenty six percent said that he made the wrong decision.
31:05 Because I get to read these polls, I get to give my opinion first, and I will tell you that I don't think we've had a poll where I have disagreed with the minions more than this one. This is such a wrong decision. Even in that scene that we just saw, Okay, he says you deserve a family like. At a home. I cannot give you that. How many families do we have? Living on the Enterprise. There's like a thousand people on this ship. There's wives, there's kids. We see Naomi Wildman have a very nice time living on the Enterprise. It is clear that the Enterprise is a great environment for families.
31:46 Wharf is just being straight up lazy and honestly, he's being a little bit racist here because he's like, I can't provide that for you here. Why because there aren't any other Klingons on board, Because you don't want your kid raised with humans, and you know, buyinars and whoever else comes on the ship. This is just Wharf being a straight up bad, bad dad. And what's awesome about this scene is that it actually leads to future problems. Right future Alexander reacts against this pretty strongly in a couple of different episodes. So I have to say, if seventy four percent of our responders said Wharf made the right decision, I will say I two hundred and seventy four percent disagree with them, and that clearly Wharf should have been a good dad in this moment and actually kept Alexander round. And I'm sure that Alexander would have had a great time growing up in the Enterprise. Man, can you imagine him like showing up on the bridge, like Wesley shows up, showing up in the transporter room talking to the chief, showing up in the sick bay and talking to Beverly. I mean, think of the things this kid could have learned, Think of the amazing time.
32:56 I'm sorry, I'm ranting. I'm on my soapbox because I feel so strongly about this one. But what do you really think? Wait? Did I leave anything for you? Guys? Opposite? All out there? Eric, don't hold back, Okay, see my heart's right here. Well how about you, Paul? Do you agree with the minions or disagree with him? It's I I like it. I mean it's an amazing scene, right, And it's just like there's the scene doesn't have any teeth to it if he brings him on board, right, I mean it's the thing is it's heartbreaking, right, It is heartbreaking thing, very difficult to watch, especially if you're a parent. Right. I think that you know what it is.
33:41 I think and my guess is that they probably had it in mind to set up, uh, you know, future visitations of him, and and I think a lot of it is not that he's a bad dad. Necessarily right. He is just out of his depth. I mean, so much of like WARF's arc through the show has been somebody who is uncomfortable and feeling out of place and not able to do what others do easily. He's very difficult with that, right, He's very I am rigid and I do not fit in, right, I mean all the time, right, He's super uncomfortable with that. He was this is this episodehere he finds out that he's a dad, right, and then he loses his his mate right there. All this has been going on for years. He didn't know he had a child, right, and then all of a sudden it's just thrust into his consciousness. I think he is very slow to come around, right, I think it is.
34:35 I'm not saying he's right, right, but I think he's very much in like Warf mindset of like, you know, this is a ship of you know, in his mind it's even though it's really not, it's a warship, right, And he's worried that like, okay, he could be you know, and he's just I will be doing my job and I can't be. He's heard these preconceptions about what a dad is, but he doesn't really know because he's not been one yet, and I think his own tensions and preconceptions are getting in his way, is what I think's going on here. I think it's an incredible act of bravery for him, given who Warf is, right to admit that he is, Yeah, I am your dad. I think it's hard for him to do that, and I think that's what comes across for me. It's just like it's difficult for him to do that because he's got so many barriers up and defenses, you know, of Wharf, and I think he's probably really afraid. My guess is because like you know, Kaylar was, you know, how can I put it. I think he's just really afraid of the kid going through, you know, being exposed to being an outsider.
35:44 I think Warf feels like an outsider for a lot of his life, right he saw Kaylaar growing up. Is a very well adjusted outsider, but still an outsider. And I think he's just he doesn't feel like he's equipped to do a good job. I think it's as, if anything, it's a sign that he just feels like he's he's not competent, and he doubts himself at this point too much. He doesn't, he hasn't, he's unfamiliar, he just doesn't. He doesn't believe he can do it. Rather than say that, he just sort of, you know, says, my parents will take care of you, and he's you know, it's it's an impulsive decision, right, he thinks he's doing the right thing. But I think he will come to regret it, because of course in later seasons he's he is there. Right. So it's really tough. But what a beautiful scene, right, But it just wouldn't have that poignancy if if he stayed right, And I think my guess is on the show, after like everyone hating Wesley Crusher for as long as they were, they were like really reluctant to bring a kid as a regular character on the show. So wow, I went off to Eric, how about that. We both we both did many monologues.
36:44 No, I mean, I think you're you make a couple of good points. I mean he does. So he sends him to live with his parents rather than like sending him to Kronos or someplace. Right, So it's not a it's not like a cultural thing. I think is he trusts his parents because he knows that, you know, theoretically, Alexander's not kind to turn out any worse than he turned out, you know, grown up with the same parents. But his parents are kind of surprised by this. We don't see that in the scene, but his parents are kind of surprised by this too, and they feel, I think a little bit like oh okay, yeah, yeah, we'll do that, you know, not completely embracing of the idea.
37:24 His mom's like, what is wrong with you? You're a stupid Dwarf? I thought you be a better then you know, which is you know what you should do? So yeah, who's who's up? Charles? All right, Charles? How about you? Minions are against dominions? Well, I think I'm kind of with the minions on this one, and the fact that being in education, I do see the occasions where the parent or parents or parent isn't ready to deal with being a parent and oftentimes passed the kids off the grandparents to raise because they're not they're they're not mature enough to be a parent yet themselves. So I think what happens here is Worf's just not ready to be a parent. I think Warf was expecting all of a sudden's like, Okay, I've got a mate that is back. All of a sudden, I got a kid, and it's like, I'm not ready for this. I'm a lawyer, I'm in charge of security, I've got all these duties, and I'm not ready to sit there and take care of a kid too. I think that's really what the thing is that Warf wasn't ready to be a kid, and we saw him later on when Alexander did start regularing the ship. Alexander did
38:56 have a lot of problems. He wasn't outsider, he didn't know how to deal with other children, and he had a lot of growing up to do, even on the ship. So even either way, I think he had a lot of growing up, and I think Wharf had a lot of growing up he had to do, so I think for this point, I think it was a good help for for Wharf to do what he did. And by the way, if you looked on the wall, just the beginning of that scene, if he looked at the wall, there were two crossoords. All right, what do you think, David, are you with dominions or against dominions?
39:43 What all you guys said, No, I'm just kidding but yeah, I actually do agree with a lot with all you guys said, and this one's actually a tough one to be honest. Yeah, I don't know. Is he a third option? I honestly think that. To me, I'm actually kind of glad that it actually happened to where it happened, and especially like going to people who already knew, like what you guys already mentioned that his human parents were going to take care of him. And of course I can't remember if in that episode if he had acted parents before he's had his kid go there or whatnot, But you know, it's just something that I had in mind mind.
40:32 Yeah, he says in that scene, I've talked to my parents. And oh, okay, then yeah, I mean, to be honest, I'm I'm kind of a with the minions on it when I'm glad that he got a good home and place to stay safe and at least it's not a romulant orphanage or something, you know. But to me, I think I think dominions were correct on this one. So yeah, all right, well that that brings it back to me and I echo here, But that's okay because I can edit that out when we put it out to the public, so they won't get to hear this echo. But I think this is an example of TNG's rigidy and Rick Berman's impact, because if this was any other show, like Voyager, for instance, then I think Alexander would have stayed.
41:25 And we've seen that that can work, and we've seen them ad crew like each Eb for instance, so I think that he should have stayed. I think if he stayed, a lot of Alexander's future problems would have been resolved, because we see him come back later. He has a hard time dealing with Klingons because he's not doing things the Klingon way. He wants to be a lawyer or something, if I remember correctly, and Kim Tar, which is Alexander from the future, comes back and tries to talk young al Alexander into becoming a Klingon warrior. Later on on Deep Space nine, he comes back as a Klingon warrior, but he's not the best warrior. It's just not his thing.
42:11 So I think he should have stayed on the ship with Wharf. I think we would have had like a knog Jake thing from Deep Space nine. I think it could have worked out really well, and I think Wharf was a bit of a coward for sending him away. So I'm not with the minions on this one. And uh, that's all I gotta say. All Right, so we're gonna be talking about Star Child from the Neutral Zone studios and Ray TESSI roll it, David?
43:29 What are you doing nothing? Mom? Are you monitoring Dad? Again? I just wanted to see what sort of shift were on. Besides, this new unit is supposed. To be revolutionary. What makes you think it's revolutionary? The end grammar Ray is more sophisticated and balanced, and extra support was added to keep it focused. And it's using the. New Lkarst matrix. Sorry, I asked, do I use your diversionary tactics on us? Besides, don't you have homework to do? Mom? No, that will take me no time. Besides, how many kids get to experience what I have in the past few weeks. Well, that's true, You're very fortunate, sweetie.
44:09 I think Dad might need my help testing the new M six wrote a paper on it, you know. With my help the graphics. Look, we can't all be geniuses like you. Besides, I remember you contacted the academy six months ago and. You still haven't heard back. I know, but they will. I bet they want girls. Apologize. I'm sorry, Kat, I really appreciated your help. If you want me, I'll be in the rec room. Kat you come back here. Really, she's your older sister and in your shadow. Yeah, you're right, mommy, You never know what you might find out here.
45:00 Confirming Captain, we're approaching a neutral zone area KG five one six. The M six unit is performing smoothly as expected. I'm sure Starfleet will be pleased. Yes, I'm sure. Now that we've had a chance to stretch our legs, let's move on to the next assignment. Captain M six is picking up a distress call from the edge of the neutral zone audio only. Let's hear it. Channel M six has already opened a channel.
45:40 This is a starship Republic. Your signal is breaking up. Can you send us your coordinates? Repeat? This is the starship Republic. Just inside the neutral zone and drifting. M six d un astral. Subject is last three passenger transporter operated by Merchant Marines. Three hundred passengers grew. Of seventeen DM. M six has plotted an intercept course. Let's hope this unit knows what it's doing. May I remind Captain that if the starship enters the zone, we. Really well aware of the consequences.
46:20 Mister Hi, Sir M. Six is initiating work drive. We have five minutes to intercept. It's keeping us on our side of the zone, right on the edge. Captain, Transport to rooms, stand by to beama board survivors. Captain, I've lost the signal. Report We're called an attractor beam unknown ship. Captain, we're being scanned. Reports coming in. We're being boarded and engineering and the invaders are taking captives. All had. Secured Engineering with the bridge and next one.
47:06 Hi, get out of here. Now they're coming this way. No, you're a straight I have to find Katie. Just stay here. Access denied and your AVALID password access denied.
48:32 Your AVALID password password. Access granted. No crew all other ships. Okay, let's see what this new unit can do. I'm six, I'm sick. So what was the last heading at the attacking vessel. The vessel is still in close proximity, appears to be closed bearing in distance bearing two mark six distance one hundred and three kilometers and six.
49:13 I'm heading to the transport room, prepared to being. To these co ordinates advise a different strategy. I'm sure you would comply with my orders. Affirmative M six. Energize Adira. How did you? Of course, Luna and I see you came prepared. Good girl.
49:55 Where's Katy? I thought she was with you. I was looking for but I couldn't find her and I got abducted. All right, I'll find her. I have to ask, is there anyone left on board the ship? Six? Is still on board? Okay, I'll take it from here. I'm six. Chew to bean back, keep the ship on red alert, and prime the engines for a quick escape. I'll be back soon. Way to go, kiddo. Get back to the ship and get a ready. Be careful, dad, what are you doing? DoD be me back here for a reason. He knows that someone needs to physically be here to accept the computer's requests for M six to take control.
50:42 There done. If Dad was successful, we should see him in a moment. Dead. I'm six and simulation committer end right, well done. Report to my office in fifteen minutes. Come in, have seat, well, younger lady, how do you feel about your performance?
51:29 Fine? Sir? Fine? Is that all you have to say? I'm proud of myself, Sir. I've worked very hard to get here and did the best that I could, and you certainly did. I've heard a lot about you, the little prodigy that the Federation is raving about. Well they were right, and your courageous demeanor is giving you away. I'm here to give you a special commendation and an assignment. Congratulations, young lady, you are now officially the youngest cadet to ever enter Starfleet and only the second to pass the kobyashim Ma rout.
52:16 Well done, Adira, well done. All right, guys. So before we get started, I just want to clarify for you, guys. Fan films are produced entirely by fans and there's no money. They go on and to raise money for the special effects and the uniforms, everything. So we're not comparing this to TNG or DS nine.
52:58 We just want to take a look at this for what it is and you know, be fair about it. So, Eric, what'd you think when you think about ray Tesse's Tales from the Neutral Zone? Star Child? You know what, Jim, We've reviewed a lot of fan films over the years, and honestly, this one was one of my Favorites. I just found this to be absolutely delightful. I thought the story was really really good. I mean, the fact that it's kind of about a kid just kind of draws me right into it, probably because I'm a dad, but it just makes me even more interested in the story right away. It's got the classic Star Trek thing of it being sort of a rescue mission where they get a distress call and they have to respond to it. Having been to taykonder Ruga, New York and been on the set that they are using right now, it's kind of familiar to me, so it feels very special in that way. And there's lots of great references.
54:01 I mean, we've got apparently the next generation of the M five computer here being used, which doesn't have the personality problems that the five had. She mentioned something about an el Car's matrix, so that kind of gives a little bit of flip service to next generation Michael Lukuda's creations there. You know, there are some moments where she like guesses the password on the first try and that sort of stuff that just I think are there to show you how brilliant she is. But I just thought it was fantastic that the acting in particular. There were a couple of characters that were a little cardboard, but the kid and most of the brass that we see in this episode are just really on point. I thought the main actress that played the kid here, Adira, was fantastic.
54:53 Her facial expressions were great, her delivery was great. I have literally no acting notes for her, so so yeah, in the end, I just found this absolutely delightful. It touched my heart and I thought it was really really fun to watch. This is I think the fourth or fifth time I've literally I watched it like three or four times before the podcast because I was just like, that was so good, and it's ten minutes long, I'm gonna watch it again. So yeah, fantastic. We're scoring things. I absolutely would give this fan film a nine for sure. This was great, all right, A nine from Eric? How about you, Charles?
55:39 Okay, let's see that this one. Yes, I'm coming in. Had to get my mic undone and somebody sat there and said, Okay, let's do scores, which means I had to grab my score sheet, and my score sheet didn't want to say the elite. This is definitely a good example of a good staging for a fan film. The one thing with that specific studio is that the everything is suck so authentic. When they were in the room, it's like, okay, that reminds me of Kirk's quarters when they're in Now. It's interesting that onboard ship Chigan monitor what's actually going on the bridge. I've never seen nobody actually sit there and monitor what's going on in the bridge from a quarters. But it's an interesting idea, and I like how we kind of Okay, something's going on here is not making sense, and I'm looking at this and seeing how he ends and and simulations end simulation what they do put her through some some sort of
57:10 kobyashi Maru and the admiral sat there and said, that's exactly what they did. It's like, oh, remind me of the trials Wesley went through trying to get in the academy, and that you put future guys, asked you some interesting simulations to see what's happened, what they what they put them under pressure and see what happens. See if somebody cracked, or see if somebody sit there and shows nerves to be able to accomplish their task. And that young lady did exactly that, and definitely they've been monitoring her for future crew member player. That is gonna be an interesting cadet to show up. Ah, I think I agree with Eric, and I will give it a nine myself.
58:11 All Right, we got a nine from Eric, we got a nine from Charles. I'll jump in here next. I'm gonna go with a nine as well. This episode reminded me of the Short Treks episode Ask Not if you guys remember, that's where Captain Pike is on the Enterprise. He has an engineer come aboard and puts her through a very similar test. And I really enjoyed that Short Treks episode, and this one reminded me an awful lot like that. I really enjoyed it. As Eric said, I thought the little the Girl was awesome. I thought the sets were incredible, the sound effects were great, the family was believable, especially the two girls arguing. Yeah. I just I can't find any flaw with this one. I thought Ray test he did a great job, wrote a great story, It was engaging, it was fun to watch. It moved at a good pace, and I enjoyed it. So I'm going to give it a nine and I'm going to pass the mic over to Paul.
59:16 Yeah, exchle Jim. Yeah, it's interesting. You know, we've seen a few fan films on the show before. I haven't seen too many of them in my outside experience, so but I like the feelthy involved, right. I've thought it really did a good job of being shot and having the same look as a as an old school original series episode, which is great. You know, they used the same music, same score, right, same sound effects, lighting, everything like that to make it look. And yeah, in fact, Paul, it's a mixture of original soundtrack stuff and George Dunning does some original stuff in this as well, so it's it's a mixture of Alexander Courage's soundtrack as well as George Dunning's new stuff.
59:58 Yeah, yeah, yeah, it seemed to flow together pretty well. I couldn't. I did only recognize stuff from uh, you know, from familiar themes, I guess so, but but no, I thought it was good. It's it's very short, right, you know, it's very short, and so we're used to like four acts, structure and everything for this, so it's interesting and uh uh I thought I agree with you guys that the lead actress who played the main character idea. I think it is right. It was was you know, did a really good job, really solid, authentic line readings. Doesn't seem like she's uncomfortable, especially in that first scene right in the quarter. She's very natural and in the moment, and which is difficult to do, you know. And I think that for me, if there was anything that I thought could be maybe a little bit whenever some of the I was a little unclear at points in terms of establishing things like with the writing, right, like where exactly are we? Who are the relationships, who's the dad, what's the mission. It's just you know, you have to kind of, you know, fill in quite a bit on there. But I still think overall it was a very good effort, right, nicely done, you know, you know, pretty clear. Yeah, I'm just you know, it's a short film. I think probably what it was is that they originally wrote something longer and then edited it down a little bit, and maybe some of the things I was a little unclear on were probably just with editing and stuff like that. But I think a great effort. Really nice to see people exploring their enthusiasm for Star Trek by doing something creative, right,
1:01:32 So I agree with you, guys, I think it was really good. I'd probably just I think an eight sounds like a good score for me. I think would be what I would say, pretty good. But yeah, but good work. I'd be curious to see what else they've done. All right, Yeah, And just to remind folks real quick, Jim before we move to the next person, that so fan films can only be fifteen minutes long, max, and I have to agree with Paul. I think like they could have it was only like ten minutes longer ten minutes thirty seconds, so they could have taken like one or two extra minutes to establish some of these character connections. Is that a rule for like licensing or something. Yeah, it has to. Well, what it comes from is it comes from the Star Trek acts in our thing from years ago, where they produced an entire movie and they actually paid the actors to be in it, and then Paramount came after them, and so now the rules are that you can you can homage to Star Trek, but Paramount won't sue you if you keep it to less than fifteen minutes, and you don't use any established characters.
1:02:42 So like Jordie LaForge could never show up in one of these fan films or that type of thing. They have to be all new characters. And they have established that they could actually use the set that's in Tykwon Conderoga, New York, which is a totally accurate to the show set. Which is nice because when these TS episodes come up, we actually get an authentic like it's literally recreated in exactly the same way from the original drawings of the original set. But you can't have you can't you can't be longer than fifteen minutes. And I think the idea of Paramount said that, Okay, we'll let you do it, but we'll only let you do it a little bit. And Avalon Studios has pushed that a little bit in that they create multiple movies that have a through line.
1:03:29 So like we reviewed ghost Ship and was it Demons I think was the name of it, which was like kind of a two part thing, but then each one was less than fifteen minutes, so it was okay, yeah, anyway, that's what it is. So it's a it's a let's not get sued by Paramount but still have fun. This searge okay, awesome, yeh yeah, but real fun, right, I mean really fun to see. So just to clarify what Eric said, they can't. They can be two parts, but they can't be more than fifteen minutes. So they can't make like ten episodes with these same characters. It's two and done. And also Ray Tessey runs the set down in Kingsland, Georgia, but there are.
1:04:16 Two sets that are accurate. Right, So guys help me out with this. Okay, I just want to learn a little bit, right, because how did Star Trek Continues to get away with it? Right? Because they used all original characters from the original show and they're way longer than fifteen minutes. That was before Accent. Yeah, they look at first, Accinar came along and raised something like a million dollars or some ridiculous amount of money George and Nachelle and all actual actors from Star Trek to be in it, and I say, and Paramount looked at that as a business expenditure and said. No, So Continues came first before all this brew Haha, Okay, got it.
1:04:57 When we had Andy Bray on the show, they weren't getting paid to do that. They were all volunteer. So that's where that came from. All right, guess what David you got the caboose on this one. Who all right, So, yeah, I haven't really watched too many fan films except for a lot of the original George Came Nachelle, Michelle Nicholson, Nicholson and whatever her name is, chl Nicholas. There you go. Yeah, I I haven't done too many of the fan films so much, but I started getting into action a and now you guys were describing Yeah, action, I started doing that whole thing. But I never knew that it had to be less than fifteen minutes, which kind of sad, to be honest, because that really takes away a lot of the creativity in my opinion, for a lot of the different shows that they could do. But that being said, I do like this particular show. I do agree with you guys. You can really tell the excitement on her face, the main coacter in that show that she just was just so happy to be there, and it did bring a lot to the watching of the film itself, and as as the other people acting, you know, decision of course, Hollywood of you know movies, and this is just a
1:06:30 fan film, so I'm not gonna really push for two together. But overall, it was enjoyable. It was short. You know, maybe it could have gone for a NEXTRA five minutes or show, but I don't know. It was interesting. Originally I was gonna give this number seven, but now the more I think about it, they put a lot of work into it, and I'm wondering how much money they've actually raised them sold. I tried looking it up online. I couldn't really find it. But but yeah, other than that, it's uh. I think I'm gonna have to wage it up a little bit and just go with a uh an eight.
1:07:11 Yeah, it was enjoying. Get josh Or went back on the show to talk about this one man. I mean, not that we need to do two shows on this star child, but when we had Joshua Irwin on the show, it was very cool to hear his perspective on being on like establishing the Avalon universe, which is this you know, entire universe of Star Trek fan films that these things fall under, wherein you can have you know, next generation uniforms, you can have TOS uniforms, you can have Kelvin timeline uniforms, and the Avalon universe sort of brings all of Star Trek into one place in these little like fifteen minute or less episodes, so to speak. Like literally, you guys on the podcast who are newer of the podcast, if you haven't seen ghost Ship and Demons, you guys got to watch those because those are like some of the best fan films that this studio has produced right now, in my opinion.
1:08:09 And Eric, I believe short tracks was Paramount's answer to this. We talked about it on the podcast years ago when they put out these restrictions. Paramount came out with these episodes called short tracks, and I think they were trying to show the people that you can make something quality less than fifteen minutes. And if you haven't seen any of the short treks, I recommend Children of Mars Calypso is a good one. There's a lot of really good ones. Check out the short treks. All right, guys, Well, that wraps up our conversation on Star Child. Excuse me, and now it was time for our Star Trek.
1:09:10 That was not a clemon. Song, okay, war if we don't want to hear it, all right, we always start off our Star Trek birthdays by remembering those members of our Star Trek family who, sadly enough are no longer with us, and for that we turned to Eric take away to Mike, Eric. Yeah you got it, Jim. This week we're gonna start with actor Charles Lewis Napier. He was an actor and musician who played two great roles in Star Trek episodes which were made more than twenty five years apart. These were the roles of Adam in the TOS third season episode The Way to Eden and Denning in the Deep Space nine four season episode Little Green Men. Napier actually wrote and was featured in performing the songs that were in the Way to Eden.
1:10:00 I thought was really super cool. Throughout the seventies and eightians, he of course was best known for playing edgy military types and menacing bad guys. In fact, he was Murdoch, the intelligence officer in Rambo First Blood Part two. He also played roles as Commander Gilmour in the Austin Powers movies, Tucker McElroy in The Blues Brothers, and Chrome Angel in The Handle with Care. He had a great voice and lent his talents to a ton of animated series as well, like Johnny Quest, Hercules, Superman, the animated series, Bud slight Year, Star Command the Men in Black animated series The Simpsons.
1:10:44 The list goes on and on and on, so check out his IMDb page. I'm not saying that the songs in this episode were amazing, but Charles Lewis Napier did actually perform them himself, and we really really respect him for that. So born in nineteen thirty six, we lost him back in twenty eleven at the age of seventy five years. Our happy birth is about the episode where they go around saying. Herbert, Herbert, Herbert, Herbert. It is the episode, Jim, Yeah, it's the Herbert episode. Yeah, so there you go. He was the guy with the weird stuff on his forehead too. So happy birthday to Charles Napier. Happy birthday as well to Terry Lester, the actor who played Heron in The Voyager second season episode Maneuvers.
1:11:30 Terry Lester began his acting career while in the Army, and upon completing his service, decided to move to Hollywood to pursue acting. He had no problem finding work with his acting, singing, and piano playing skills. After a few bit parts, he found a starring role in Arc two and was soon courted by the Young and the Restless. That's right, he became a daytime soap opera star. He eventually left Young and the Restless for Santa Barbara nineteen eighty four, and then eventually moved to New York to take on a role with As the World Turns. He would leave that show in nineteen ninety four, and unfortunately we lost him all the way back in two thousand and three at the young age of fifty three years old.
1:12:15 Happy birthday to Terry Lester. Happy birthday as well to Paul Sorvino. Woh A Titan as far as I'm concerned was an Italian American actor who played Nikolai Rosenko in the Next Generation seven season episode Homeward. Although originally aspiring to become Yes an opera singer, Sorvino built a solid career in films and television from the nineteen seventies onwards. He's perhaps best recognized for his role as Paul Cicero in the nineteen ninety gangster drama film Goodfellas, one of the best. He performed in over one hundred theatrical movies and over thirty TV movies throughout his career, including a dynamic and underappreciated portrayal of Henry Kissinger in nineteen ninety five's movie Nixon. He suffered from severe asthma and worked hard at mastering various breathing techniques to manage his illness.
1:13:14 He wrote a best selling book entitled How to Become a Former Asthmatic and started the Sorvino Asthma Foundation based in New York City. He also was a pet guy. He founded dog Fellas That's right, the dog adoption organization in two thousand and two with his family, which was based in Manhattan and Pennsylvania. Dogfell I mean, is there a better name for a dog adoption place than Dogfellas? Paul Sorvino, we miss you. Man born in nineteen thirty nine, lost in twenty twenty two at the ripe old age of eighty three years old. Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday as well to Arlene Martel, the actress who played to Pring in the TOS second season episode Am Time. In nineteen sixty five, she was among the candidates for the role of doctor Elizabeth Dinner for the second Star Trek pilot where no man has gone before. However, she couldn't do it because she couldn't stand wearing those Crazy Contacts that Selly Sally Kellerman. Sally Kellerman was eventually slated to wear.
1:14:22 Nearly two years later, she auditioned for Star Trek again, this time for the role of Sylvia in Kotspaw. Again, she didn't get cast because of the production staff had seen her as the ideal actress for topring in a mook time. Forty years after her role in Star Trek, she appeared as a Vulcan priestess in the fan film star Trek of Gods and Men, which, if you speaking of fan films, if you haven't seen Of Gods and Men, you absolutely need to watch that one. Of course, that was directed by friend of the show, Tim Russ. She had myriad guest star roles on shows like The Twilight Zone, The Untouchables, Perry Mason, and Mission Impossible, and was also an animal rights activist with the organization Last Chance for Animals and actually hosted an HBO special on that topic.
1:15:15 So Happy birthday to Arlene Martel born in nineteen thirty six, lost on twelfth of August twenty fourteen. Happy birthday as well to Peter Mark Richmond lived to be ninety three years old. Of course, he played Ralph Offenhaus in the Next Generation first season episode The Neutral Zone. An amazingly prolific actor, he was no stranger to science fiction, appearing in two episodes of The Outer Limits as well as The Twilight Zone's penultimate episode, The Fear. Throughout his career, Richmond alternated between nasty villains, stern authority figures, and stoic heroes, and became one of TV's most often killed guys. No kidding, he died almost more than anybody else in appearing in motion pictures such as Naked Gun two and a Half, the comedy Dempsey, and Friday the Thirteenth Part eight. He was amazing. Of course, He had more than one hundred television guest spots on in his career spanning five decades, including Chrissy Snow's father, a reverend on Three's Company. That's Right, a reoccurring role for him. But he was a real renaissance man. He was a humanitarian. He was a painter who had seventeen successful one man exhibitions on the West Coast and in New York. He wrote two novel novels and several stage plays, of which his shows Four Faces, and a medal for Murray were the most acclaimed. So
1:16:45 this guy had talent literally coming out of his ears. Peter Mark Richmond lost back in twenty twenty one as at as I said ninety three years old, Happy birthday to him. Happy birthday as well to Jay Robbinson, the American actor who appeared as troyan Ambassador Petrie in the Coos third season episode alone of Troyus. Robinson's most well known role was that, of course, as Colligula in nineteen fifty three's The Robe, which he actually would reprise in Demetrius and the Gladiators just the following year. In nineteen fifty five, he co starred in the historical drama The Virgin Queen, and after recovering from a short stint of drug addiction and a career ruining jail sentence, he returned to acting on television in the late nineteen sixties. He appeared in movies like Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex, For Afraid to Ask in nineteen seventy two, Nightmare, Honeymoon from nineteen seventy three, Shampoo, The Sword and the Sorcerer, and Big Top Peewee in nineteen eighty eight, a number of television guest appearances and TV movies rounded out ja his career. Happy Birthday to Jay Robinson and next is Joseph Ruskin, of course. Born Joseph Richard Schlaffman, Joe Ruskin was an American actor who appeared
1:18:16 in four of the five live action Star Trek television series and in Star Trek Insurrection. Did You Know That? In tos He played the part of Gult in The Gamesters of Triskellion in DS nine, he played the klingon two mech in two episodes, The House of Cork and Looking for Parmak and All the Wrong Places. In between these episodes, he played a Cardassian informant in the episode Improbable Cause. He was cast as a Sona officer in Star Trek Insurrection, appears in Star Trek Voyager in the episode Gravity, in which he played a Vulcan master, and his final Star Trek appearance was in Star Trek Enterprise as a Sullaban doctor in the pilot episode Broken Bow.
1:19:00 He worked on Star Trek video games, lent his voice to Master Sitan in Star Trek Hidden Evil in nineteen ninety nine, and had a couple of other cool roles like that in Star Trek. He had a long and distinguished career, appearing in television series as early as nineteen fifty nine, and made a career out of television guest appearances and several television, television and film movies. In his later years, he had a reoccurring role as Alliance Master Elaine Christoph in jj Abrams series Alias. So, while not exactly Star Trek, a little bit Star Trek adjacent, I would say, so Happy birthday to Joe Ruskin. Yeah, Happy birthday to him. And last, but not least, on our list, a Titan of Star Trek. Michael George and Sarah was the Lebanese American actor best known to Star Trek fans for playing in the original series third season episode Day of the Dove, Deep Space nine second season episode Blood Oath, Star Trek Voyagers third season episode flashback Back, and he later appeared as Javelle in DS nine's four season episode The Muse. As I said, He was a Lebanese born actor whose family was from a small village in what was then the French Mandate for Syria and Lebanon. Later
1:20:31 in nineteen twenty two, he married I Dream of Genie actress Barbara Eden from and was married to her from nineteen fifty eight through nineteen seventy four. It actually appeared on several episodes of that show himself. He was often cast as brown skinned actors because that was kind of how you did it back then, so played lots of Native Americans and other actors of non white descent. He had men any other TV and movie appearances of note, including co starring with TS regular James Dewan in a nineteen sixty four episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. He played the villain Killer Kine in four episodes of the nineteen seventy nine sci fi TV series Buck Rogers in the twenty fifth Century, and actually worked with Ricardo Montabon in three feature films. But where I really got to know him other than his Star Trek appearances were in his voiceovers. He worked as a voice in the DC Comics character DC Comics character Mister Freeze on Batman, the animated series. He voiced that character several times from nineteen ninety two to two thousand and nine.
1:21:44 So just go check out his IMDb page. It is super impressive. Lots and lots of credits there. What a great actor, one of the three Masters that we see klingon, Masters that we see on Star Trek. So just a really super cool actor born in nineteen twenty two. We lost him back in twenty thirteen. Happy birthday to Michael, George and Sarah. And that you guys does it for our remembrances this week. So I'm going to pass this flaming birthday candle onto. Charles Well, thank you, Eric, I got a shortlist on mine. Happy Birthday to Bill Irwin, American actor, clown and comedian who portrayed Sakal in Chartrek Discovery third season episode to Call That Hope Is You? Part two and the fourth season episode Kobayashi Maru. Happy Birthday to Courtney Pendon, actress who played Karen Ferris Star Trek Deep Space nine sixty is an episode The Valiant and last time my List.
1:23:00 Happy Birthday, Faith Sally, actress who played Serena Douglas and Star Trek Deep Space nine six and seventeen episode Statistical Probabilities and Chrysalis, And I'll pass the candle over to Paul. Thank you, Charles. The birthday roller coaster keeps on rolling. So first of all, let's say Happy birthday to Alicia Coppola, actress who portrayed Lieutenant Staddie in a Voyagers first season episode. I believe it was the pilot caretaker. Very very cool. Not everybody you know continued on a Voyager there, but awesome way to start things off being in the pilot right, very cool. Happy birthday to the awesome legendary William Sadler.
1:23:50 Now we're honoring Bill Sadler for his portrayal of Luther Sloan in Star Trek Deep Space nine six and seven season episodes Inquisition, Extreme Measures and inter Arma and him silent Leges And of course, if you don't know what that means, and you're not a student of Latin, it means in times of war, the laws fall silent. So perhaps a phrase we should be aware of in the times we now find ourselves in. So a DS nine presence, but an iconic actor. Man, he's just great. You could light a match off those cheekbones of this guy. And I'm telling you, out of control. One of the first things I ever saw him in was it was when they did the first Diehard sequel, Diehard Too. He's the main antagonist, he's the main villain, super badass, right, and just you know, lethal dude, just very much iconic. Was in a movie that people joke about, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, right, but he played Death where he was riffing on like ingmar Bergmann like this note tomorrow. I mean, it's just really it's quite an amazing performance. People tend to dismiss those movies, but he's really amazing in that role.
1:25:05 And he's done a lot of Stephen King, Right. He was in The Mist and had a really key part in The Shawshank Redemption, which I think you can, you know, feel like, you know, I did a pretty good day's work if you were in The Shawshank Redemption, right. I mean, he's just a very prolific actor. Very hard to not notice, right, He's just he's just intense looking, and if he's in a scene, you're probably gonna be watching him the entire time. So I just think I'm a fan. I think Sloan is so such a great character and he just completely nailed it. Yeah, he's just awesome. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Jim just so you know, but but a terrific actor, just charismatic as hell. If he's in it. You should watch it.
1:25:51 Really really amazing performer. So happy birthday, William Sadler. We dig you here and man, how do you talk bills? Well, I think this next one might. It's tough because he's right there with him. Man, I mean, it is a treat to talk about the work of the great rob Ron Peerlman. Sorry, I'm like starstruck today. Ron Perlman is a gem. Now, okay, hard to tell underneath all that makeup, but we in Star Trek acknowledge him for playing Riemond Viceroy right in Star Trek Nemesis. Right, But this is a guy who's very comfortable being under a lot of crazy makeup, right, I mean a lot of roles underneath makeup.
1:26:40 I don't know if you young whipper snappers remember it, but there was a TV show called Beauty and the Beast that for a while it was just like one of those shows that you think, oh it, maybe it'll get a season, right or whatever, it'll you know, come and go. It was a phenomenal cult hit. It was a TV show that just became a cult, a crazy is he cult hit? I mean, just really really ridiculously popular, very very big with the great Linda Hamilton from you know, Terminator fame, right, and he got a lot of following. It was very popular, the way like the Outlander series is kind of romantically popular right now and has a certain following to it that is kind of how Beauty and the Beast was it just I think it took off in a way that nobody expected. But he is a massive genre of veteran, right. He's been in an alien movie, right in Alien Resurrection. He's done two huge phenomenal hell Boy pictures for Guerre Mola del Toro. He's just amazing. He's done so many good things in his career, right, really just a phenomenal character. And of course, you know every single season of the Sons of Anarchy, which I don't know if anyone else there is a Sons of Anarchy fan, but I sure am. As a biker uber Boss Clay Morrow on that show, he was great. He just got to do so many cool things as in that playing that character. A lot of comedy, a lot of really great moral ambiguity and drama, a phenomenal role
1:28:14 for a character. He just did everything and does a ton of voiceover work and other character work as well, so he's just again, it's just one of those guys that if Ron Perlman's in it, you should probably be watching it because he's He's pretty cool and very outspoken and social media too, does not shy away from where he plants his flag. So I'm a big fan man. I as one of those people. If I here, you ever saw him an airport, I'd probably like knock him over because I'd be like so excited to meet him. You know, he's just great. I always wish that he would have gotten to do a third hell Boy movie with Garymo del Toro. Un feel that, you know, that's a franchise that kind of got a little mismanaged, I might say. But whenever Pearlman and Garama got together, it was just a beast. They had such chemistry together. It was like, you know, a de Niro Scorsese thing with those two. Just amazing. Sorry, I could talk about Ron Roman all day. I'm just a huge fan. Amazing dude.
1:29:15 So happy birthday, mister Pearlman. We salute you, sir, And let's go back to again to old school original series Michael Forrest about a ban actor who played Apollo, the god Apollo in original series, second Sason episode who Mourns for Adonnas, And then we were just a couple of minutes ago talking about Startrek Continues. Michael Forest came back to kind of recreate that universe again in a really cool episode of Star Trek Continues. So really neat that he was brought back to do that. Really cool to be able to carry on his legacy and keep Star Trek going a lot of it. It's interesting that the actors would choose to come back because they they recognized the appeal and the lasting legacy of Star Treks. So I think it was a cool move for him to come back and revisit that character that way. So a lot of really interesting, cool people having birthdays in the month of April, and we will now pass the flaming Promethean birthday candle over to the man with the strange blob on his shoulder, Uncle Jim.
1:30:23 Why, thank you so much, Paul. This is George. I will love him and squeeze him and call him George. He's my glomy good protects me from all those evil tribles. I only have two birthdays. First, we want to say happy birthday to the awesome Michelle Scarballe. She's the actress who played Lieutenant Junior Grade Jenna Desora and the TNG fourth season episode in Theory. But I loved her as Susan Francisco and the Alienation TV series, and there she is at the bottom right hand corner. I think that show has overlooked a lot of people forgot about it, but it was incredible and she played George Francisco's wife.
1:31:10 If you haven't watched it, or you haven't seen it in a while, go and check it out. She's incredible. And last on my list, we want to say happy birthday to Eric Avari. He's the actor who appeared as by Jack and the TNG fifth season episode Unification Part One. That's the weasily whiny, spineless clingon who would not allow Picard to talk to Gowron and all he wanted it was a cloak Klingon ship so that they could go to Romulus, and finally by Jack comes back and gives him a ship. That's the Klingon that he played. But he also played Yarka in the DS nine third season episode Destiny and Jammine in the enterprise first season episode Tara Nova. But I think a lot of fans know him from Stargate or maybe you know him from the Mummy.
1:32:12 Both excellent performances by him. And Jim, is it just me or do I see another Star Trek actor in that Mummy picture picture? Right now? That's the Silver Fox himself. It's the Silver Fox himself. He's one of my favorites, like. The Silver Fox himself. And that, my friends, wraps up our Star Trek birthdays, and now it's time to move on to some Star Trek. New Priority one message from Starfleet coming in on secure channel.
1:32:54 Incoming transmission enter authorization code, command codes very define parameters of program level nine authorization require specifying parameters. Transfer updata is complete. A black alert, A black alert. All right, Eric, you've got our first story of the evening. All right, Jim, it seems that we cannot possibly get away from talking about Katy Perry this week, but we're doing it in the context of our segment. William Shatner says, what. That's right.
1:33:34 William Shatner gives intense warnings ahead of Katy Perry and Gail King's space flight. William Shatner is one of the rare celebrities who can actually say that they were in space. Usually you leave that kind of work to the professionals, but he was given that rare opportunity becoming the oldest person to travel in space. Now Gail King and Katy Perry get their opportunities with Jeff Bezos's fiance Lauren Sanchez as the first crew of all women to head into space. However, Shatner has some stark advice before they head out into the great unknown. Of course, now they've done it, but we're reading this later. Recently, the Star Trek actor sat down with Gail King on CBS Mornings. There she ponders what it must have felt like for him, specifically saying he looked so euphoric. William gives a little insight but gets incredibly heavy in the process. You're gonna feel at Gail, and I don't want you to wear that dress because it's the color of blood, he advised her. We don't want any blood, Gail. Then he ramps up the intensity even further, scarring the bleep out of Gail in the process.
1:34:52 You're lying there waiting to take off. That's the most exciting moment of all because the g forces that are going to be on you. Shatner says, you're going to think I'm going to die, but you're not going. To die, Gail. You're on an adventure. Gail King desperately tries to sway the conversation from the prospect of dying. She questions the actor on if there were any nerves during the experience. It's here where he gives the best, plainest advice. The nitrogen going up the geez, that's frightening, girl, But embrace the adventure. Embrace it. Shatner says, you're on an exciting trip that you'll never do again. You're going to live through it and you'll be fine. Just mesmerize yourself. Shatner adds, it's the adventure of a lifetime and you're going to see the world like nobody. Only six hundred people have seen it, and you are going to see it. I'm sorry, guys, but that is one of the best. Shatner says, what that I have read over the course of the past seven or eight years. I lust I don't want to see any blood. So fantastic. It's all in the news right now. There's all sorts of really funny like Katy Perry memes and whatnot going on right now. Let's just be clear. Only the ultra rich can do this stuff, and you and I are not those people. So you know,
1:36:25 take that for what it is. So Paul take us in a different direction, won't you, happily? Yeah, I'm one more billionaire. I think I'm gonna start throwing up, But you know, hey, let's talk about toys, okay, because that's a safe spot to hang your hat for a while. Toy company Hia Toys It takes flight with a two thousand and nine edition of the Star Trek iconic USS Starship Enterprise, currently being displayed on screen for the two Patreon members who can see it. Hiat Toys is turning to the Final Frontier once again, as they returned to the rebooted two thousand and nine Star Trek universe.
1:37:05 We've seen a variety of one eighteen scale and six inch figures arrive from the line, capturing the Enterprise crew. Well now looks like the USS Enterprise itself from Star Trek. The two thousand and nine motion picture jj Abrims Version Right is coming to life with Hyatoi's first release under the Replica Art series. This sleek, modern reimagining of the legendary Starship blends classic design elements with the futuristic aesthetic and great big silicon like NAS cells to to delay you. All right, let's steal what the size of those cells are those big missiles? Do you remember what was the reaction when they first unveiled that thing. It was like people were just oh my god.
1:37:59 I mean there is precedent for that rightly in that like Gene ron Berry talked about like how the engines on this, on a ship that goes faster than lights should be like the size of the ship. Oh, I think I think that I was fine with it, but boy, people flip their lids like they didn't know there was no And now you can't not see, you can't not look at them because it's like so. Pronounced. Let's just say, okay. Constructed in the alternate Kelvin timeline, this Constitution class vessel is larger and more powerful than it's Prime Universe counterpart. Well maybe I don't know. We'll see the US Centerprise light up Starship will come in at fifteen inches in length, and we'll have is it size everything? Is that? Is that really? Where we are fifteen inches in length? That will have multiple lights featured throughout the ship. While this does not scale perfectly to highest other two thousand and nine star Trek, it will be a perfect addition to your collection. The replica release replica art release will be a previews exclusive for order, well kind of for yours. Will be offered online at one hundred and forty nine dollars nine nine per cents into your local comic book stores. You can find this in a number of different e retailers, notably Big Bad Toy Store. I just mentioned them because they're rather ubiquitous and they do fulfill their orders very reliably. But you can pre order it there with a minimal fifteen dollars non refundable deposit to you know, and you're going to see this, since we're talking toys, friends, You're going to
1:39:30 see this everywhere now as an asterisk excludes tariff surcharges, okay, and you better get used to it, because if you think one hundred and fifty dollars is a lot of money for a starship enterprise, you are going to be probably paying an additional whopper of a charge as well, because this is just the universe we're in as toy collectors now, and you're going to start seeing this happening way more often. I'm very intrigued with High toys. I have yet to see a single one of their action figures from the Star Trek line in the wild. I have a bunch of higher figures. I've got all of their RoboCop series that they did, which are excellent, a bunch of Predator and alien figures that did at a great job on, really really good. But they've been talking about venturing into these other licenses like Rambo and Star Trek, but I never see their product anywhere, so it's kind of baffling. I wish them well. I hope they do good, but it's getting real competitive out there in the Star Trek Action figure universe, right. We've got a lot of new players coming in there, like Master Replicas and the cell So, you know, you got to work out this distribution thing. Friends and are somehow work that social media thing a little bit more sharper, because I'm still not really sure I believe they exist, So I'd love to see some Maybe you need to send somebody on the show send us some samples so we can check it out and see what's going on. Anyhow. One hundred and
1:41:01 fifty smackers will get you this sucker. However, be advised that the estimated arrival date is June twenty twenty six, so this is more than a year in the future, pals. So this is you know, hopefully comes to pass, you know, caveat emptor and do what you will. I'm speaking right now. The word is currently twenty four percent tariffs on Japan. That could go anywhere within the next three hours or so. Yeah, it's it's it's it's tough. And then postal rates and I'm seeing that some come right now. There are some countries I can't remember which one it is. It's not Taiwan. What's the other.
1:41:45 One, Well, China is at like one hundred and twenty four percent or some crazy. Do I think of though, Apart from China, it's not Taiwan, but the other no smaller Singapore. I think it might be Hong Kong. I can't remember. It might be Hong Kong Chriles. But but they recently they're not shipping to the America anymore, to the America, to the United States America. You know, they're not They're done. They're like, hey, right now, we're not shipping to you. Sorry, you know, so it's it's it's crazy. So it's like I've got a bunch of pre orders out for stuff, and like when they come in, I'm like, okay, glad to have you. I don't know what else I'll mean, I'm kind of like beyond the April arrival window. I'm a little skeptical of you know. I mean, I'll pre order some stuff, but i won't pay in advance for it because I'm very skeptical about what may go on. So it's real tough time for I feel bad, not for me as a collector.
1:42:39 I feel bad for the people who invest years of their life to create a product and then they run into the current circumstances that are not driven by common sense. So it's tough. Yeah, digression and time to hear from Uncle Charles. Charles, Oh, trying to look like Jim. Huh, you got promoted, Charles, Uncle Charles, Now you have to buy a lot more gifts for your nephews. And yes please. Okay, And can I just say you know this has been on my mind forever, right, I would just we need a different gender amongst us trust tre experts. Right, it has been guy Guy, get g got guy guy, Guy, Guy, Guy guy forever. Okay, I I think we need to mix it up and get somebody who's you know, we do differently endowed in here.
1:43:39 Sharon, but we haven't had her on in quite a while. And my daughter Jamie used to join us for a little while, but she hasn't been around either. Uh, what if we did this? Okay, I'm just trying to think of ways to like generate uh Patreon income for you and uh and also ideas to spice up the show right as a summer project, okay, all summer long on the Facebook group. Right, we should be talking about this off the air, but who knows, somebody may listen and get inspired. So why not? And we had a contest, right, people like send in their audition tapes and say we would like to add a a non male member of the you know, to the crew. Right, send us your audition, would you like to join as a trexpert? Show us your stuff, right, and it would be a way to generate like buzz all the summer, and it could maybe you know, make us a little bit less you know, old white, old white man kind of thing. All right, So, because we are David's the youngest one of all of us. I'm the oldest. I guarantee you right, you know, but I think we just need some some different juice. Man. I like it, so I think it would really goes. I'll shut up now and again, Ladies and gentlemen, he's back from his bark lounger.
1:44:51 Please welcome Uncle Charles. I prefer sub Commander to uncle. But we're getting another novel coming out the official release of Paramount Plus's third season, Strange aw Worlds and might be under a strict lock and key, but that doesn't mean Star Trek Universe has suddenly stopped revolving, as a new Star Trek world is coming later next month later this month, composed by veterans Star Trek author James Swallow and being published as Simon and Schuster pocket Books on April twenty ninth. This absorbing cosmic diversion to temporarily do help the fan with the original Star Trek Avengers unfolding and the Final Frontier with Star Trek Changed New Worlds Towards the Night. While patrolling the borders of the Klingon Empire, Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the US Its Enterprise record a series of subspace echoes from a planet orbiting a volatile layer star, and with Spock and Commander Una Chuneiley lead a lending prior to learn more. They discovered the ruins of a dead civilization, evidence of starship grade metals, why possibly a crash site. This will be the third in a pocketbook
1:46:24 series in the universe of Star Trek Strange two world novels, the first of which was High Country, followed by Asylum, And for those that may not have time for books, this one will also be an audiobook on Audible, which you can also find on Amazon or audible dot Com. Don't know, Yes and Charles Well I just mentioned that this is the guy that wrote one of our favorite Star Trek. I believe it's one of your favorites as well. It's one of my favorites Fear Itself novels. The same guy that wrote that, and it was so good. I think it like that was kind of early on in those Discovery novels. It might have been the third or fourth one that came out something like that. It was so good and like it like gave you that background to Seru's kind of whole situation before we got to see some of that on Discovery.
1:47:24 Yep, might I can't have to be a birthday present, all right, Jim, I think you want to talk about Starfleet Academy. Yes, a little bit, just a tad a touch so Star Trek Starfleet Academy compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer comparison, huh. Editor Joe Dobrinsky has worked on a lot of big franchises, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Star Trek. He talked a little bit about the upcoming Starfleet to ca Me and Howard reminded him of Buffy, lamenting that he hadn't had the chance to work on more comedies. Dobrosky said, quote, the new series I'm working on, Starfleet Academy, has some great comedic moments, the young cadets and their energy. It's going a little bit about Buffy Belperre and fun where every week has something insane is happening and they're looking at each other and going, is this really happening? Did you see what just happened down the hallway? Oh my god?
1:48:34 It's funny, and I enjoy that. This won't be the first time Star Trek borrows a little bit of something from Buffy. The second season of Star Trek Strange New Worlds included a musical episode reminiscent of Buffy's musical episode Once More with Feeling, and even included a nod to the earlier series. Speaking of music, that's one thing that Dobrowski says bothers him about working with Star Trek shows a disappointing lack of contemporary music. Quote. My one issue with Star Trek has always been since it takes place so far in the future, you don't have conventional you don't have any contemporary music, Dobroski said. You can't put a kick ass rock song, hip hop, k pop or whatever it is. It doesn't belong. And that is the one thing when I step away from Star Trek and do other things is always satisfying. It's almost like stepping out into the fresh air to get used to good contemporary music because you get stuck in a star track box.
1:49:51 I disagree with that completely because I remember hearing Pat Benattar's Shadows of the Ninth being sung by the Board Queen on Star Trek Pit Card. I also remember the Beastie Boys being featured in Star Trek two thousand and nine as well as Roy Orbison in Star Trek First Contact. So we do hear some contemporary music in Star Trek. To be fair, Star Trek has been in I just went over that Starfleet Academy is expected to stream on Paramount Plus either later this year or early next year. The upcoming series follows the very first class of Starfleet cadets in well over a century. And Eric, you've got our next story.
1:50:42 Okay, I am totally going to read this story, but I just have to comment on one thing in my opinion on that last story. So, yes, we have seen some contemporary music in Star Trek. Does it belong there? In my opinion, it does not. I think that that is laziness. I think that we can pay some people some money to bring the Beastie Boys into Star Trek two thousand and nine, and I think that if we had a little bit more creativity to us, we can actually generate new music that would do the same thing. So I personally like Star Wars does a way better job of that right now than Star Trek is doing. So that's my soapbox on Star Trek music right now.
1:51:25 But let's get back to my article Star Trek Omega brings it all to an end and ties in with Nemesis. That's right, one of those movies that y'all hate, but that is better than you think it is. The current run of Star Trek from IDW Publishing will end in June with Star Trek Omega and then start to get in July with new titles and some of the same creative teams. Star Trek Omega concludes more than two years of shared storytelling between the two Star Trek and Star Trek Defiance series, written by Collin k Kelly Jackson Lansing, and Christopher Cantwell, and drawn by the artists who have drawn both series and in the aftermath of the Star Trek Lore War event and tying in with Star Trek Nemesis film. Star Trek Omega number one from acclaimed creators over the past two years, two and a half years of comics spanning sixty years of Star Trek history, a fair few awards, and more than a few universe detonations.
1:52:30 I don't know if that's the word they meant to use, and it's all been coming to this. Star Trek Omega is the denouncement of the critically acclaimed Star Trek and Star Trek Defiant storylines. Is that the word they meant to use, and the first glimpse at all that comes next, I think the thing is here. They're bringing everything all together. The crews of the Theseus, Defiant, and the Enterprise set to work restoring the universe to what it should be. After the evil Android Laure's intervention. Each hero finds their in preordained or unexpected ways, with individual scenes depicted by one of Star Trek or Defiant's mainline artists. This finale pays tribute to all those who were involved in the series.
1:53:14 On Sale six eighteen, pre order deadline five twelve forty page one shot, six bucks. So yeah, I'm super excited about Star Trek Omega. I think I mentioned this in the last podcast. My personal opinion is that Star Trek Defiant has been totally nailing the comic thing to the. Wall right now. I'm really really digging. I think there's been like one or two issues of Defiant that I haven't totally loved, but every other issue I think they're up to twenty six or twenty so, I don't know, somewhere in the twenties, been amazing. The regular Star Trek title has gone a little bit off the rails, but I think it's okay, especially if you like Cisco and that whole like celestial Temple thing. There's a lot of Celestial Temple, but Star Trek Omega appears to be bringing it all together. So I kind of like the idea of we're putting all this stuff out there, I'm my god, and my god, it's so crazy, it's so great, and then we're gonna bring it all together and kind of refocus the titles.
1:54:21 So I'm super excited about this issue right now. You'll notice that if you're watching the video right now, that Spock's face is in there. Yes, Spock is a big part of this. Also, we have Cela, we have Chief O'Brien in this, we have Lore, and of course two of the greatest stars I think of Star Trek Defiant in particular are Rolleran and Blana Torres. We have one new character whose name I will not reveal right now because you need to go out and buy the title, but she's been fantastic throughout most of Star Trek Defiant right now, so I'm excited about this one, and I hope that this kind of reboot brings the regular Star Trek title back into the fold because for me, that one's been a little bit out there. I hope we get a chance to review the Star Trek titles at some point because that one's been a little bit out there.
1:55:16 But Defiant, if you like Star Trek at all, you should be buying all the Defiant titles. So yeah, there you go. It's my opinion. I'll stick it to it, all right, guys. Well, that wraps up our podcast for this week. Next week we have a very special show back by popular demand. I guess Star Treks Evil Admirals and Eric did this at Trek Conder Roga a couple of years ago, and we're going to bring it to you guys live right here next week, so you don't want to miss the next podcast. And without any further ado, I'm your most excellent host, Uncle Jim. I want to say thank you to Eric for hanging out and trek talking with us tonight.
1:56:06 Thank you so much, Eric. You bet guys. I appreciate the fact that you let me talk and talk and talk and you never say please stop. That's what we're all about. And thank you so much for Paul for hanging out and Trek talking with us. Thank you, Paul. Oh, it was fun. We do get silly, don't we. That's what our fans like, that's what they expect. And thank you to Charles for hanging out and Trek talking with us. Thank you, Charles. Oh, and why you have Eric be quiet? Eric's giving him a good opinion. We all have opinions. We want to share them. True that true, that my friend. And of course we got to say thank you to David. He's our miracle worker making his awesome slide shows and video presentations possible.
