Star Trek Fans Getting NERF Phaser, See The Awesome Battle Toy

Star Trek fans have something to be excited about, and it’s just in time for Christmas. Hasbro’s NERF has just made the new Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) phaser blaster models available to purchase.

The first mention of the Type 2 and Type 3 phasers being a part of the LMTD line of popular weapons from various games and movies was back in September of 2022. Now, after a year-long wait, the new Star Trek NERF guns are finally in stock.

The new Star Trek NERF blasters were designed to pay homage to the 35th anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation television series. The Type 2 and Type 3 phasers are being sold as a box set for just under $120 in all the major retail outlets like Amazon and Wal-Mart.

In Star Trek: TNG, the Type 2 phaser was issued to Starfleet personnel in the 24th century, and they were meant to replace the less powerful, smaller Type 1 phaser. The Type 2 took the pistol design of the Type 1 and refined its style. The Type 2 phaser was sleeker with a handle that flowed in a gentle arch to the muzzle of the weapon.

The Star Trek NERF Type 2 phaser blaster is the smaller of the two. It fires only one dart at a time. You simply have to load the dart into the phaser, prime the weapon, and pull the trigger (or rather, press the button) to fire.

The Star Trek NERF Type 3 phaser blaster is really a rifle, and the design of the weapon is definitely something fans of the series will enjoy. Though the colors are a bit different (given that it’s a NERF product and all) the basic design of the toy weapon is quite close to the real thing.

The Type 3 also has a light-up feature that is meant to look like the assimilation of the Borg, referencing a TNG finale where Jean Luc Picard is assimilated and the 1996 movie Star Trek: First Contact

The NERF Type 3 phaser even has a sound feature that plays various sound clips from First Contact along with some traditional phaser sounds. It has a mechanical 5-shot loading system, but it only shoots one dart at a time.
