The New SONS OF STAR TREK Will Finally Put The Franchise's Children in The Spotlight

A new comic series is on the way from IDW Publishing - 'Sons of Star Trek' - a spin-off from the ongoing series 'Defiant' and 'Star Trek'.

"Jake and Alexander find their stories intertwined as they’re thrust into an alternate universe where they follow their father’s footsteps into Starfleet stardom. As officers aboard the USS Burton, Jake and Alexander encounter alternate versions of other children of Starfleet legends who show them they all may have a bit more in common than it would seem."
Sons of Star Trek will be written by Morgan Hampton and drawn by Angel Hernandez. Not only will Sons of Star Trek star Jake Sisko and Alexander, but also Nog as well as Q Junior, the son of the omnipotent Q. Alexander and Jake Sisko’s relationship with their fathers make for an interesting comparison. Although Jake lost his mother at a young age, his father remained a strong and stable presence in his life. Jake does have feelings of abandonment due to his father being away for three years, but these feelings are nothing next to Alexander’s. Nearly all circles of Trek fandom agree that Worf was a bad father, despite his best efforts. He failed to provide the same comfort and guidance to Alexander that Ben did to Jake.

Alexander must find a new path forward, and there is no one better to help him than Jake Sisko. Alexander straddles two worlds: human and Klingon. Nog, Jake’s best friend, is in a similar situation being the first Ferengi in Starfleet, and he will no doubt call on this experience to help Alexander. Q Junior is the true wild card in this bunch, which is only fitting given his dad’s trickster nature. A spoiled and petulant child, Q Junior could be the perfect foil for Alexander and Jake as they find their way in Sons of Star Trek.

The series launches Feb, 2024!
